Call for new members of the EASD Early Career Academy Committee

Are you an EASD member and passionate about our mission to support early career researchers and clinicians in the field of diabetes? Then, we encourage you to apply until 20 October 2024 to join our Committee!

We are seeking new Committee Members as we continue to grow and develop our activities to support, train, mentor, and create opportunities for scientists, clinicians, and students. We believe that a diverse and dedicated committee is essential to achieving this goal.

Joining the EASD ECA Committee will give you the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing activities, as well as develop new ideas and shape the direction of the Early Career Academy initiatives, in association with the EASD Board.

Since its launch in September 2022, the Early Career Academy has already:

Initiated a mentorship programme, which pairs early career scientists with leaders in the field of diabetes.

Established specific sessions for early career researchers at the EASD Annual Meeting.

Provided the opportunity to early careers researchers to chair sessions during the EASD Annual Meeting.

Developed new platforms for continuous learning, with Journal Clubs in collaboration with Diabetologia, and webinars held by senior experts.

Contributed to other EASD activities, such as the Scientific Programme Committee, the Education Committeeand the Committee on Clinical Affairs.

As a member of the EASD ECA Committee, you will agree to commit for a duration of 3 years, starting from early 2025. Members attend monthly meetings (remote) and are expected to participate to the organisation of the different activities, such as the Journal Clubs, webinars and mentoring programme.

To candidate, please sent a short letter - max 1 A4 - indicating why you would be interested and like to be selected for this position, as well as your CV.

Application is open to scientists and clinicians at an early stage of their career, up to 7 years since completion of their most recent degree (PhD, MSc, or MD degrees). Eligibility can be extended for reasons such as maternity, paternity, illness, national service, clinical training, natural disasters, or asylum, if clearly described (further documentation may be requested at the discretion of EASD). A particular attention will be paid to the diversity of European countries and applicant profiles represented in the Committee.

Please apply before 20 October 2024 and send your application letter to EASD-Academy@easd.org.

About the EASD Early Career Academy

The Early Career Academy is an initiative to support, train, mentor, and create opportunities for scientists, clinicians, and students who are at an early or intermediate stage of their career, with an interest in diabetes research and/or clinical practice. Its core objective is to provide unique opportunities for development, a platform for exchange of knowledge and experience, peer-support, and interaction with the wider EASD community.

Through these activities it will support and motivate early-career researchers and clinicians in the field of diabetes to become the future leaders that pursue excellence in diabetes care and research. The EASD ECA is an initiative under the umbrella of European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), a non-profit, medical scientific association.
