EASD Robert Turner Clinical Research Training Course

The EASD Robert Turner Clinical Research Training Course is hosted by Oxford University’s Clinical Departments and open to clinically qualified physicians with a research interest in endocrinology and diabetes. This face-to-face, 4-day course provides you the basics for conducting clinical studies:

  • Design clinical experiments in diabetes/endocrinology
  • Deliver a clinical experiment
  • Join the elite international group of Robert Turner Course alumni
  • Be introduced to and use “R” for big data analysis
  • Brush-up your statistics
  • Immersive course in Oxford, accommodation at Keble College

Criteria and eligibility for the course

The course, sponsored by Lilly Diabetes and EASD, provides an introduction to research in the fields of clinical diabetes/endocrinology including sessions on 'Introduction and use of 'R' for data analysis'.

Applications are welcomed from clinically qualified physicians who are considering or have recently begun clinical research but have not received a higher (post-graduate) qualification.

Applicants should be members of EASD and have received their medical degree not more than 7 years before 1st January 2025.

Participants must attend in person, be proficient in Word and Excel and be fluent in English.

Cost of the course

The registration fee for the course is Euro 240. Costs of accommodation and most meals are included in the registration fee.

Travel costs are not covered; participants should make applications to their own local organisations for travel funding.

Application procedures

The application system is available via MyEASD. Interested candidates should log in to MyEASD using their existing accounts or create their personal account to submit their application before the deadline on 16 December 2024.

The application must include the following:

  • A curriculum vitae giving your current professional address (with email address) and full details of education and academic and/or clinical career to date. There should be a complete list of publications and mention of any meetings or workshops attended.
  • A one-page letter describing how you meet the requirements for the Course including current research interests and a brief explanation of how you think that the Course will help your research.
  • A one page letter of support from your Head of Department indicating your suitability for the Course. This letter should also describe the department’s activities in clinical research.
  • EASD membership number and proof of current membership.

All information will be treated confidentially and will be shared with the Robert Turner Course Steering Group who will make the selection.
